Paris in mid-October, just as it’s starting to get cold. It had been a while since I’d been blessed with clear skies, so I took a walk to the Place de la Concorde at dusk with my Sony α7R III and Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD telephoto lens. The Eiffel Tower seen from the Place de la Concorde at the golden hour, when the Tuileries Park is colored with beautiful autumn leaves and the sunset turns the world as far as the eye can see into gold, was a spectacular sight that delighted me from the bottom of my heart. Today, take a look at the charming “Paris in Autumn”, which I photographed at that time.
Eiffel Tower and obelisk in golden hour
Here’s a shot of the Eiffel Tower and Obelisk taken in the golden hour of dusk with the Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD 180mm telephoto lens in front of the Lion statue behind the Concorde Ligne 1 metro station. The area from the Place de la Concorde to the Eiffel Tower has no high-rise buildings, so it’s a superb location with no unnecessary objects in the picture. As a Parisian photographer, it’s one of my favorite places to shoot, so be sure to visit at sunset!
Photo of the Place de la Concorde, capturing the oblique autumn light and long, stretching shadows.
The Place de la Concorde is a spot where obelisks, lampposts and car stop posts capture attractive twilight shadows, which gradually lengthen as autumn deepens. With the Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD, which has no noticeable loss of descriptive performance even in backlight, there’s no problem with resolving power even with such intense backlighting in the angle of view.
Autumn sunset and Parisian lovers
Even in cold weather, the city’s parks, with their romantic atmosphere of autumn leaves, are popular rendezvous spots for Parisian lovers. In street photography, we wander around looking for attractive subjects as well as beautiful scenery and light, but we always prefer photos with depth, with people in the right mood telling a story.
Golden Parc des Tuileries and Parisians
Unlike the red, orange and yellow autumn leaves of Japan, Paris is transformed into a world of gold in autumn. Even in the vegetable stalls of the markets, warmly-colored produce such as pumpkins, sweet potatoes and persimmons multiply, warming the heart somewhat. In the Tuileries Gardens, the chestnut trees planted in neat rows all turn golden, attracting chattering Parisians.
Visit the Louvre as the sky turns pink.
The moments when the sky turns from cold to pink are very rare and precious. As there are no skyscrapers in central Paris, the sky is very wide, and at sunset you’re often captivated by the beauty of the sky. Even though I live in central Paris, it’s not often that I see such a beautiful pink sky, so my heart was overjoyed.
Impressed by Lazuli (the color of the sky in groups of blues), I think back to when I created Studio Lazuli.
On her first visit to Paris, she was impressed by the colors of the deep blue sky she saw during the blue hour, and later decided to settle in Paris. A few years later, when I started my creative work in Paris, mainly in web development, photography, videography and graphic design, I came across the word “Lazuli”, which means “the color of the blue sky” in Persian, and decided to create Studio Lazuli, and that “autumn in Paris”, I decided to move to Paris. The sky I saw at the Louvre at the end of my Parisian day was such a deep blue. Every time I look up at that mysterious, beautiful sky, I think of that moment.
