A hotel group commissioned us to take beautiful Parisian landscape photographs. The fantastic and beautiful landscape photos were taken during the magic hour.
1. Notre Dame de Paris photographed under a lazy night sky
The first photo is one I took of Notre Dame de Paris, whose spire part was destroyed by fire in April 2019, but it is a memorable photo that I timed well to document a few months before the fire. I took this photo during the blue hour, just after the setting sun, and this “azure night sky” is indescribably fantastic. I was struck by the beauty of this “azure night sky” that I saw when I first visited Paris, and decided to incorporate the Latin word “Lazuli,” meaning azure, into the name of Studio Lazuli. In that sense, I titled the film “Notre Dame de Paris photographed under the Lazuli night sky.
2. Arc de Triomphe & Place de l’Etoile photographed during the Golden Hour
This is a photo of the Arc de Triomphe taken at sunset time from Place de l’Etoile with the setting sun in the background. The Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM, which is considered the best wide-angle zoom lens, was mounted on a tripod and the shutter speed was slowed down to 1/2ss so that only the cars moving around the roundabout were blurred. By doing so, I tried to make the viewer’s eyes naturally focus on the Arc de Triomphe. This is also a really good lens that beautifully expresses the gradations without destroying the shadows.
3. Saint-Louis Island & azure night sky captured in the Seine in winter
This is a photo of the nearby island of Saint-Louis taken immediately after the first photo of Notre Dame de Paris. I composed the image so that the light from the warm-colored street lamps, which is characteristic of Europe, reflected in the Seine River and slowly swaying, the apartment with the uneven roof, which looks like something out of a fairy tale, the slowly swaying image, and the deep blue night sky would line up in parallel.
4. The Eiffel Tower and the Seine River taken from the Pont Neuf Bridge during the golden hour.
The fourth photo is a shot of the Eiffel Tower and the Seine River taken from the Pont Neuf bridge in my neighborhood. The Pont Neuf bridge is the oldest bridge in Paris, which spans the Ile de la Cité, famous as the birthplace of Paris, and has appeared as the setting for various movies such as “Mission Impossible” and “The Lover of the Pont Neuf Bridge. The bright red sunset, the Eiffel Tower just lit up, the majestic flow of the Seine, and the young people enjoying a picnic at the tip of the Isle de la Cité all add up to a striking image of everyday life in Paris.
5. The unoccupied Louvre courtyard photographed on a midwinter night
The fifth and final shot was taken in the Louvre courtyard, with the glass pyramid as the main subject in a perspective-oriented composition. Again, I love the “azure night sky” and “warm streetlights” so much.
There are many other beautiful sceneries all over Paris.
I would like to invite you to visit these fascinating places, and I hope that you will enjoy interacting with charming Parisians and Parisiennes.
