Web Design for multi-creator
Studio Lazuli, based in Paris, France, offers a variety of creative services centered on web and website development, photo and photography, and graphic design.
While the majority of people still follow one distinct creative profession, such as web designers, photographers, and graphic designers, there is a gradual increase in the number of people who are called “multi-creators” who “use their comprehensive abilities to handle a variety of creative projects. I feel that the number of multi-creators who are able to use their comprehensive abilities to handle a variety of creative projects is gradually increasing. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, but I am certain that there are certain perspectives and advantages that can be noticed only by multi-creators who are active across multiple genres.
Today, I would like to talk about what points I focused on as a multi-creator when creating and building my company’s website.
How simply should multiple service genres be expressed?
It is never easy to express multiple different creative service genres on a single website, and unlike when building a client’s website, the process of asking myself questions for the first time without a hearing partner was much more difficult than I initially expected.
After much trial and error, we came to the conclusion that our top priority was to pursue an expression that would convey our services, creative sense, and sense of trust just by looking at one page of the home page, and decided to structure the website in the following four sections.
- Explanation of the three service genres offered in the “Services” section: web and website development, photo and photography, and graphic design.
- “Portfolio” section to introduce the works we have created in the three service genres.
- “Blog” section with the three latest posts to strengthen SEO
- “Profile” section: explanation of the origin of the company name, background, and concept.
In addition to the home page, an inquiry form, contact information, and SNS link buttons were placed in the Footer section at the bottom of every page, so that visitors can contact the company from any page on the website without having to navigate to another page.
The other fixed pages are dedicated to the three service genres of “Web/website development,” “Photo/photography,” and “Graphic design,” plus a “Blog” page, for a total of four pages, displayed in the navigation bar.
The three fixed pages of “Web/Home Page Creation,” “Photo & Photography,” and “Graphic Design” consist of the following five sections.
1) “Service Title & Overview & Portfolio” section
2) “Service Features” section
3) “Production Flow” section
(4) “Approximate Fees” section
5) “FAQ” section
In terms of design, we prioritized a clear, easy-to-read white background, as opposed to a homepage with a large number of images in the background of each section. As for the portfolio of works mentioned above (1), it features a slide animation with a cover flow effect. In addition, each work in the portfolio has a link to the corresponding WORKS submission page, so we built it in so that visitors can view details about the work.
Studio Lazuli was built in 2014, so as of 2020 it will still be six years old, but we still think it is an ideal form for a multi-creator website homepage.
Stylish with SVG & CSS3 animation!
We incorporated SVG animations for the logo at the top of the homepage and CSS3 animations for scrolling here and there.
In addition, in order to systematically and efficiently communicate the three different service genres that were the main theme of the website, the “home page” and other fixed pages were completely separated, which had a significant impact on the site design as well as the site structure and flow line. This is one of the features not seen in other websites.
The design method of the site’s page structure, including the flow of each section and WORKS & BLOG posts, is also very effective for SEO (search engine optimization) measures, and we have received numerous job orders thanks to this website.
The site is available in three languages (Japanese, French, and English) and is responsive.
